College-Level Learning Should Require College-Level Thinking.
Live, Ph.D.-led psychology courses designed for homeschool students ready to discuss, analyze, apply, question, and think deeply. These are not traditional online lecture courses. Students actively engage in psychology through a flipped-classroom model built around higher-order thinking, meaningful discussion, and application.
Think Deeper. Learn Differently.
Psychology as preparation for college and life.
Analyze • Apply • Understand
The Advanced Academic Division of College Career Compass™.
Cognitive Horizon Academy™ offers live, Ph.D.-led virtual psychology courses designed to combine meaningful academic rigor with intentional learning design. Students do not simply encounter psychology content. They learn to question it, analyze it, apply it, discuss it, connect it, and use evidence to support their thinking.
Curiosity as a Cognitive Skill
Analysis. Application. Understanding.
Rigor Without Busywork.
College-Level Learning Should Require College-Level Thinking.
Learn content in class.
Go home and figure out how to use it.
Watch content.
Complete work.
Move on.
Build the foundation before class.
Come ready to think with it.
At Cognitive Horizon Academy™, live class time is not used simply to deliver information students could read or watch independently. Students arrive with foundational knowledge and use class time to discuss ideas, analyze evidence, apply concepts, solve problems, question assumptions, make connections, retrieve prior learning, defend reasoning, and revise their thinking.
Rigor isn't the amount of work a student is assigned. Rigor is the quality of thinking the work requires.
What Students Actively Do in CHA Learning
What Makes CHA Different
Ph.D.-Led Instruction
Every course is taught live by Dr. Leslie Tucker — a credentialed educator with a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instructional Studies. Not a teaching assistant. Not a recorded lecture series.
Live Virtual Learning
Real-time instruction with direct access to the instructor. Students engage, ask questions, and participate in live discussion — not passive consumption.
Flipped-Classroom Design
Students build foundational knowledge before class and use live time for higher-order thinking: analysis, application, discussion, and defense of ideas.
College-Level Thinking
CHA courses are designed to develop the cognitive habits college professors expect — not simply to cover content.
Small-Cohort Learning
Courses are designed for meaningful engagement. Every student has a voice, and every student is expected to use it.
Active Discussion & Application
Class time is structured around discussion, application, and analysis — not lecture. Students practice thinking, not just listening.
AP® / CLEP® Preparation Where Applicable
AP® Psychology is aligned with the College Board AP® framework. Advanced Honors courses integrate CLEP® preparation. Credit depends on exam performance and institutional policy.
Psychological Literacy
Students develop the ability to think critically about human behavior — to evaluate evidence, question assumptions, and apply frameworks to real situations.
Homeschool-Friendly Flexibility
CHA courses are particularly well-suited for homeschool students seeking rigorous, Ph.D.-led coursework that integrates meaningfully into a customized academic plan.
Part of the CCC Ecosystem
CHA coursework complements the College Career Compass™ programs, supporting students' academic development and college planning journey.
Psychology Becomes a Vehicle for Learning How to Think.
Psychology has value far beyond students who plan to major in it. The discipline gives students structured opportunities to evaluate evidence, understand research, analyze human behavior, examine competing explanations, apply theories to unfamiliar situations, communicate ideas clearly, question assumptions, and connect concepts across contexts.
Reflection. Analysis. Perspective.
These are more than psychology skills. They are college skills—and life skills.
